Beagleboard.org is in the process of releasing a new revision of the BeagleBone Black, Its Rev C. The changes for Rev C include upgraded 4 GB eMMC from 2 GB eMMC and will ship with a Debian distribution as opposed to the current Angstrom distribution.
Debian has a larger base of community support, and more hobbyists are familiar with this particular distribution. We hope this software change gives our customers a better user experience with the BeagleBone Black.
In addition to the upgraded memory and improved software, The price will be increased compared to the previous version selling price.

Beaglebone black is a candour single board computer; a processor, memory, and graphics acceleration are all shrunken down as chips to a single circuit board. It has been equipped with a good feature to allow the user to experience the power of the board, Interestingly magnitude of expansion headers with two 48-sockets, includes a number of analog I/O pins that allow it to connect to a variety of sensor hardware also creating opportunities to add many features and interfaces via add-on boards or Capes. Capes are available for, VGA, LCD, motor control, prototyping, battery power and other functionality. The features of the board is explained down the topic. Lets unbox and see what it has,,,
Wow! here are some unboxing pictures taken, The board is shipped along with the USB cable.
board features highlighted:
The board is featured with 1GHz processor, 512MB on-board DDR3 RAM, built in 2GB storage with pre-installed Linux operating system, MicroHDMI connector etc…
Sitara AM335x ARM cortex – A8 processor: The board is based on the Sitara AM335x ARM Cortex-A8 processor from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), It provides 1-GHz performance – 150 percent higher performance than ARM11 for more advanced user interfaces and computation power.
DC power: +5V DC power can be supplied to the BeagleBone through a barrel connector or from the mini-USB, both of which are located near the large RJ45 Ethernet connector.
2 GB on-board storage using eMMC: In addition to all the features of the previous board (Beaglebone), the Beaglebone black now uses embedded nonvolatile memory system using eMMC , which frees the MicroSD slot to be used for additional storage. Here, Its preloaded with Angstrom Linux distribution image.
512MB DDR3: The board is having 512 megabytes of low-power DDR3L RAM, doubling the size and speed of the volatile memory and ensuring it will execute software faster.
PMIC: The board uses a TI TPS65217B PMIC to generate stable supply voltages regardless of input power variation.
Power button: The board provides a push button near the Ethernet connector for powering off and powering on the board. There exists a mutual functioning between the processor, PMIC and the power button for the proper shutdown when the power button is pressed.
Reset button: When pressed and released, causes a reset of the board.
Boot button: Boot button is used to boot the Beaglebone black directly from an external microSD card. You can boot the Beaglebone Black from an external SD card by holding down the BOOT button when applying the power
HDMI framer: The BeagleBone Black has an on-board HDMI framer that converts the LCD signals and audio signals to drive an HDMI monitor. The design uses an NXP TDA199988 HDMIFramer.
Micro HDMI: with this microHDMI we can connect directly to monitors and TVs.
USB host: USB 2.0 type A host port.
10/100 Ethernet: 10/100 Ethernet RJ45 socket, IPv4 and IPv6 networking.
MicroSD slot: MicroSD slot for additional user data or operating systems.
Serial Debug: Serial debug is provided via UART0 on the processor via a single 1×6 pin header. In order to use the interface a USB to TTL adapter will be required.
Expansion headers: The expansion interface on the board is comprised of two 46 pin connectors. All signals on the expansion headers are 3.3v unless otherwise indicated.
Supporters for the board:
1. Beagle Armour: Transparent acrylic enclosure case box for Beaglebone with GPIO access hatched for prototyping.
2. Getting Started with Beaglebone black: This Getting started book written by Matt Richardson intended for beginners certainly includes an introduction to both programming and physical demonstrationsof this powerful development board.
3. Kits and accessories for Beaglebone: The kit includes all the necessary accessories to kick start with the Board

Habitually we see the changes in the standardization of Audio/Video/Data communication ports on the development boards and the monitor displays, The older standards like VGA, DVI and their variants are being ruled out and replaced by HDMI and DisplayPort (including its variants; HDMI-Mini, HDMI-Micro), but still there are plenty of peripherals with the older ports, however, and finding the correct adapter to suit your needs can be tricky.
Sanatana Techtronics offers a variety of adapters for connecting different peripherals. If you are looking to find the right adapters to change your cable genders, land into a link below.
These fully plug and play method has gained a great deal of popularity and is a relatively inexpensive option. If you have any queries write us a mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, For more updates on products stay tuned to www.sanatanatech.com
It is not a good practice to remove an IC from its socket with our hands, It may cause the pins to bend or break; as shown below
with little experience of soldering, you can reuse the IC !!!
I have followed these steps to fix it, First i have straightened the bent legs with the help of tweezers as shown.
What if you don’t have the broken IC pin?, you can cut-down the LED/capacitor/Diode/Damaged-IC legs or a piece of copper to solder it. Prefer the one which sits strong into the IC base. I got a scrap IC base and legs looks similar to the IC pins so removed one of the leg to use it.
removed one IC base leg with the help of tweezers
trimmed it with the help of cutter
Sometimes you may not get more support area to solder, in that case you carve the plastic around the broken pin with a sharp knife
soldered to the broken leg
Hurray!!! its fixed and reused for application.
Don’t solder a pin for a long time, IC get overheated and may get burnt.
If you feel the joint is not getting soldered, then try applying some flux.
You can use any other sophisticated tools if available or a screwdriver to pluck the ICs.

The Cortex-M3′s Blueboard LPC1343 is a board featuring a high level of integration in terms of both performance and power usage, and also the price to afford them.
With us the Cortex-M3 exists in two flavors as stamp board and the blueboard for the two end users; the stamp board has an on-board USB JTAG Debugger which makes you don’t need to buy another JTAG Emulator and all the GPIOs are extended for developmental applications. Blueboard is the one which is ideally suitable for training, hobbyist and for developmental purposes where you get all the necessary hardware’s in a single board to test the functionality that ease your learning curve and speed up your program development.
In addition, the software examples accompanied with the kit will be convenient for you to evaluate the functions of the NXP LPC1343 processor and ease your development.
Here is an Application Note helps you getting started with LPC1343
Breadboard is a piece of hardware prototype stage for designing and building electronic devices. It allows you to build an electronic circuit without any soldering instead, you poke your components and wires into the small contact holes arranged in rows and column connected by lines of metal, then you can connect your components together with single strand wires or breadboarding wires to form your circuit.
This is how the holes are interconnected electrically.
Electrical connection remains same for the (1), (4) and (2), (3).
In (1), (4) rows are linked horizontally.
In (2), (3) columns are linked vertically.
There is no interconnection between (1), (4).
There is interconnection between the rows in (1), (4).
There is no interconnection between the columns in (2), (3).
There is no interconnection between (2), (3).
Usually (1), (4) is used for power supply connections as we find many supply points in the circuits.
If you want to make use of the entire row you need to short a jumper wire as shown in the figure below
Current and voltage limits – 100mA, 50V.
Contact wear-out – While building circuits make sure the wire pokes into the holes strongly.
Comprehensive list of economical ARM boards can be found in our previous blog post. By way of comparison, here’s a table of the fast moving boards with the specification based on an ARM microcontroller. These boards are available for purchase in a single unit quantity.
